About the event last night...

Post by Depheant »

I had to leave as soon as it started, unfortunately and I checked the areas this morning...

To my surprise the version of the areas used was wrong; when I made them, I initially made a mistake with the Elite Talon units- they had an AC of 58, so when I tested it in private I got trashed. I quickly went back and saw that I gave those 58 instead of 45.

I immediately sent the new version to Mia, but it seems she's losing messages from time to time [guess ICQ and Trillian do not like each other that much] so maybe she didn't get the new version.

I'd like to apologise to all those involved and especially to Mia. It was meant to be hard, slightly harder than Talon, but not like that... A lot of work went into the event and seems because of that mistake it was wasted.

Again, sorry... :(

However, extremely well done for sticking to it and reaching your goal. I guess that's why they call'em heroes.

It was killer Deph. But definatly -not- wasted. Good job on the areas.

Also, the NPCs were well possessed too, good dialog, whoever did those.

My only complai... er... constructive critici.... ah... feedback would be: That was a MARATHON. Five or six hours is a bit too much, for me at least. Maybe on a weekend, or split it into two sessions. As the hour grew later, my RP started to really suffer, and I apologize for that.

For those who missed it, the short version of the story is:
Fenia has been in a varanite prision a long time
The heros found 2 keys, BOTH were important (Kisanth and Logan)
She is safely back in Daris now.

The longer version, as I saw it, you can pull from my logs, if you are so inclined. Someone should write a summary, but this might do for now.

Thanks to the DMs who make these adventures possible. We love you guys.

Definitely deadly...

But, as Harold and J said "Not a waste of time". The map was crazy good, and I liked how we didn't know where we were. And the Dialogue was well constructed , too. There was a definate sense of believability in every NPC. Thank you DM's for putting together a well-detailed adventure.

Don't beat yourself up. Beat us up.

Not wasted at all Deph! I had great fun, although I was thinking maybe I was a bit under-power some of the time ;P It was nice to do something that wasnt a big laggy fight in the village :) for the fighting there was, I'm on a 56k modem and I didnt really see much lag!

I really enjoyed it.. I did get tired toward the end but it wasnt too bad. Just dunno How I'm gonna get to sleep tonight :)

Thanks!

It was a good time. Not to much fighting and a big part RP. Just the way I like it.

Good job Deph.

58 ac huh, well that explains why no one could hit them most of the time...and thank god for clerics

Ditto on the length of the quest. In all honesty, I think we would manage to use three times (at least) that time if we got to bicker with each other some more

After 5 hours, I had to log off toward the end - missed the whole conclusion

I didn't mind the high AC, nor did the fact that I could only hurt them through ice storm which most of the time landed on friendlies as well ( ), but...

Depheant, why did you make them invulnerable to Salia's bitching?!

*cough*

Sorry. Couldn't help it.

I had loads of fun. Thank you to all the DMs and players that made it happen. So... uhm... when's the next one?

Unfortunately we had to leave prior to the grand finale, but from what we have seen up to that point, it was indeed an amazing experience! We were both thrilled and excited to be able to play a part in this storyline, which all started a while back (for those of you who have missed it, the story about how we found the key and how badly "they" wanted it back, can be read here). Many thanks to the DM's and builders involved. It was truly wonderful and very much an honor. We can't wait to find out how the story develops further!

I'm so glad all of you had a good time. There was precious little time for testing all of that before we got started. Even with the few glitches we had (which I hope noone really noticed), I think it went pretty well.

A note on time. I definitely did not intend for it to go on that long. ;) I was starting to crash toward the end as well. Normally we would do these kinds of events on the weekend instead, but I'm glad many of you were able to pull out the no-doze long enough to keep at it.

As everyone has said, Deph, you did a wonderful job on the areas and on the Elite Talon. Thank you so much for all of your help. I'm sorry I missed your last version of the Elite Talon, but I think the version that was there really forced the two disagreeing parties to really come together to beat them. Excellent roleplay by those involved, by the way.

To those of you who could not make it, or joined too late or early, no worries. Bare with us, as we try and get things put together. There is more coming....

It was brilliantly thought out, I must say. Though, I never really figured out *what* the plot was...no one was willing to stop for a moment to clue me in. So, I ended up lost most the time I was there. It is harder to do things like that on the computer with the lag and such, which I had to take into consideration when it began pissing me off.

For a while, I stayed out of it because my frustration was getting the best of me. (Forgive me for not staying the entire time)

As someone has said...it would be better on a weekend...or atleast a bit more time to plan for it. That was quite a long adventure. I had school in the morning, so obviously I could not stay the entire time.

Nice job, DM's! Take a bow. *smiles brightly*

(Breaking it into two parts sounds like a good idea to me. Five-six hours wares on you...and your fingers from typing *grins*)

I can imagine that being a frustration, but during the whole event quite some people tuned in halfway, so if you have to explain what's going on everytime a new person joins the party and pops in next to you (as I was the partyleader) asking "Where the hell am I? What's going on???", it can be quite tiresome. But again, I can see how it frustrates you...

Personally I got a little irritated sometimes by all the non-plot talk that was going on, especially during important conversations, for instance the talk with Delade Hennode'lie of the Thieves Guild. And was it really necessary for practically the whole town to enter that building? Oh well... it's probably unavoidable anyway. Just minor irritations, and they don't weigh up against the overall fun I had during the event. It was wonderful!

Another problem was a bunch of us waited in the Gateway Inn for a DM to tell us to come on after the module reset. About ten of us. We finally logged in after 45 mins and found out the reset had already happened and the event begun.

Miscommunication. Oh, well...
