Quite right, but it was good while it lastedZenthrax wrote:Sorry to burst your bubble, but greater magic weapon makes the weapon a +5 weapon (if you have enough lvls in cleric/paladin that is) oh, and paladins also get Holy Sword spell, which makes the weapon also +5 with the added bonus of dispelling..so buh-bye Stoneskin, greater stoneskin and premonition

I really hope you're joking Galen. I have 15 levels of Cleric and Lesser Dispels still seem to tear me to piecesFate_Aki wrote:If anything the DC to dispell should be lowered to a fair level.

You misunderstood me. I mean make the dispelling harder. When you're hit with it the DC in question is what the victim has to beat. I say if you can dispel, or the chance thereof, every time you hit then cut that DC down or Buff are a complete waste of time. Dispel is more UBER than imgs, timestop or any other spell out there that BW allows. To give it out like candy is insane. Only the fact that it's not offensive keeps it out of the "To be tweeked" category. Perhaps it should be.Legnar of Marduk wrote:I really hope you're joking Galen. heh - thief here says he is happy enouugh with true sight - dispell.. well never to sure with dispell - sometimes it strips every buff under the sun.. other times it seems to do nothing.. i must admit always felt that basic dispell should only strip one buff per spell.. hohum..Ramblinwomble wrote:Glances over at the truesight discussion...

Don't appaulogize. I feel that things are fine how they are, but if one changes then the other should to maintain balance.Ramblinwomble wrote:Glances over at the truesight discussion...

OOC: This is chess folks. Every move has a counter move. Folks are just calling it unfair that there is no all powerful move that no one can stop. That's just game balance at work.

you say you have "15 levels of cleric" im guessing your character is higher then level 15?I really hope you're joking Galen. I have 15 levels of Cleric and Lesser Dispels still seem to tear me to pieces . It shouldn't be possible to dispel a single buff of mine with a Lesser Dispel (DC of 26, 11 + castor level, and the highest dispel check possible for a "lesser" dispel is 25), but somehow I still get torn apart .
how many caster levels does your foe have?
if your level 20, 15 cleric +5 other, your caster level is 15, not 20, if your fighting a pure mage thats level 20, their caster level is 20,
with the addition of greater spell penetration feat, that mage can cast thier spells with an aditional +4 levels, so their caster level is 24 vs your 15. If i understand the system correctly that means they have an additonal +9 vs your buffs, so a lesser dispell will will act far better vs you for that mage then if the mage was level 15 w/o greater spell penetration, even a greater spell dispell wouldn't be as effective as that lesser.
On most arena servers, to balance the issue they added a script that takes total character levels vs dispells instead of caster levels.
From a role play point of view however, this "might" not be the best solution, although it woiuld balance the issue some what.
i guess it would come down to, "do i want to make it more even for everyone" or "should that be the cost of multi-classing casters."

You might want to read up on how the different dispels work Darkovan. Here, this should help.Darkovan wrote:you say you have "15 levels of cleric" im guessing your character is higher then level 15?I really hope you're joking Galen. yea so? you more or less said some of the same things i did.
sorry i didn't see it earlyer, check my number of posts, haven't been on dasaria long, and im sure im not the only one who miss it.
wich patch version did you do those tests in?
what casting feats did you have?
what was his total spell resistence?
what domains did you have?

what class/es is/was Cirrans, and what class/es where you, and what levels?1. Dispels (this includes "lesser", "regular" and "greater" dispels) totally ignore SR, which shouldn't be the case.
2. The DC for me to dispel any of Cirrans buffs is 27 (11+castor level), with lesser dispel I was able to dispel one of his buffs everytime even though the dispel check could only be a max of 25 (1d20 +5). Therefore it should've a had a 0% chance of working.
With regular dispel my max dispel check was 30 (1d20 +10) meaning I had to roll a 17 or higher to successfully dispel. However each time I was able to dispel at least one buff.
With greater dispel my highest dispel check was 33 (1d20 +13, the 13 is cause I only have 13 levels of cleric). I was able to dispel at least one buff each time with greater dispel too even though I had to roll a 13 or higher.

Do you know the difference between "lesser", "regular" and "greater dispels"? That would help your argument. There's nothing wrong with a greater dispel or a mordie's dys to tear me up, but when a "lesser" dispel can get rid of 5-10 buffs in one go, when that should be "impossible", something is obviously wrong.
EDIT: For some reason my last post isn't showing, so just click reply and you can read it from there.
