So what do YOU want to see?

Post by DM Chicken Little »

Dasaria is always changing, and in that changing the players are always adding content, storylines, and even just ideas.

So, here is a chance for the players to speak up. The DM team isnt always online, and in an effort to hear what the player base wants to say, this thread was created.

So Dasarians...what do you want to see added? This includes new areas, new content, storylines, events, or even something you feel is lacking from your game play. Keep in mind, not everything suggested is possible or even will be considered; but I wanted to create a space where folks can have what they are thinking heard.

So lets see it....what do YOU want to see in Dasaria. From the little things to the big.

How about a gigantic hill of burning chickens!? :D

Or...A...dispenser of some sort...or...you could make cheese in Daris...what if the sky fell?

And then you could burn the toast. Man, that's terrible...

Sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me today.

Ah, here we go...

I heard a DM made some nice weapon graphics, that'd be cool to have on Daris. Other then that, anything to personalize it away from all the other servers is a nice touch. And a few more quests...but it's really good now so this stuff could take a while for all I care :D

Events are all good at the moment...I think the last couple of days are the ones I've seen the DM's pick on us the most which is all good fun. And I think, or hope most would agree. But some strange out of the ordinary tough quests would be nice...

Daris is in a good place right now, can't wait to see what's gonna be added. And sorry for the top portion...I'm feeling funny today.

Maybe it's that dipping sauce I ate with my tostito's...I don't know how old it was, and I'm hoping it was cheeze. That or really moldy yellow stuff. Hmmm...I'm gonna go to sleep now, and when I wake up...I'm going to wonder why I wrote this.

Thanks everyone! Daris is a great place ta' be in at the moment...good people...good DM's...good fake ale...yea. Alright, sorry about the rant.

Man I'm tired.

I would like to see more areas. Every wilderness area on the server could use multiple exits and entrances. I especailly think about this when on the long hallways such as the Dasar River Valley Road and the Trek to Ravenwatch and beyond. These new areas don't even require more than one point of interest. To me, a single statue with a description is just as impressive as a five level dungeon-complex.

I would like to see more randomization in how and which monsters spawn. If there is a way to combat predictability, I say go for it. Make us have to approach challenging situations more thoughtfully.

I would like to see more items. These do not have to be powerful items. More items that simply fill an inventory slot rather than an equipped spot. I like it especially when small, unique items are given to adventurers in public or private after an especially stirring event.

I would like to see more interaction with NPCs, townsfolk, even amongst themselves. Little DM posessions really add a level of "density" to the campaign's Dasarian civilization.

I would like to see more of Varana, in both areas on the server and motivation in storyline. Varana, to me...is an NPC all it's own, much like a thunderstorm that opresses down upon Dasaria. It should pervade all things. Vague, I know. Good luck, Heh.

I would like to see the Dasaria Project move forward...adding new Hak content and further customizations to rules and mechanics. I think Dasaria's community is so talented, so creative...I want to see the server Hak the crap out of itself for it's return players. I don't believe this will affect how many new players come to the server any more than having any HAKpak does.

In events, I would like to see less of a "Race" approach. Let the different roles within the party help determine who should be doing what. Nothing makes a rogue feel more worthless than seeing his crew just charge right through the traps, and nothing makes a fighter feel more worthless than seeing a cleric get to be the beserker when that cleric should be healing people. Nothing makes a wizard feel more worthless than having thier power be-littled. Role assumption is a big part of Role-Playing. I have never seen Dasaria's role-playing finer. Not in all my time. The current player-base is simply outstanding. Reward each other by filling roles, and allowing your companions to fill thiers.

Most of all, I would like to see the community as a whole do more to encourage it's DMs. There are few I respect on this server like I respect the Dm staff. They never get an XP award for the job they do so well. If I ever end up a DM here, my first goal would be to allow the other DMs some enjoyment as players hanging from my noose, heh.

Lastly...I would like to just say thanks to everyone who's involved with Dasaria: Players, DMs, Builders, Administration, Power-Gamers, Writers Item Hoarders, Role-Players and Addicts. Every one of you makes this place more than just a video game.

My 2 cents:

I'd like to see more use of existing objects that dont seem to have a use.

For instance, those farmhouses in the farmland, you smash the door down or pick the lock to open the door, but there is no transition.
It would be nice if there was, even if there is just a farmer in there that says hello and complains about you breaking in :D

The houses in Sea side, the odd temple or house you come across in well hidden places in areas not trodden very often.

Actually, I'm in the process of building some stuff, so I might break it up into small parts so they can be added in progressions...

Oh, a place somewhere people can upload little mods for DM review?

Cheers....ReddeR

I can say now personally, everything mentioned thus far I'm attempting to enhance, Nothing like feedback to get content just right.
Agony : (noun)
1: intense feelings of suffering; acute mental or physical pain

I'd like to see some loose ends tied up... stuff like the Order of Baraan (wyv, you owe me a PM on that), etc.

I'd also like to see a temple or at least shrine for the god Ea somewhere on the server... a temple to Ea is distinctly lacking in Dasar... and I personally think that if one get made it should be in Daris since Ea is suppost to be a major god of farmers (put the farmer's god with the farming town rather than the big city).

I'd like to see some better than +3 version of some of the less commonly used weapons, like Halberds, Two-bladed swords and Katana. I know of something like three special Bastard swords, two special scythes, three Longswords, and numerous rapiers and shortswords, etc... unless I've somehow not come across the better version of those three weapons, and of course there are others beyond three... those just come to mind since I have characters that use each...

I'd also like to see Dasaria be less of a goody-two-shoes country... Frankly, Dasaria is TOO good and Varna TOO bad. If I had to give Dasaria a character allignment it would be Lawful Good, with the emphasis on Lawful... This war has been going on for how long? There would be those with some power at this point that would be willing to use the end-justify the means method over always being perfectly good... do something with that that doesn't end up with them being the bad guy or power-hungry fools like those folks always seem to... There are characters in place who would be more than willing to run with that if it came up (*cough*Falson*cough*).

I'm making these up as I go along and alt-tab between another application...so this may turn out longer than I expect.

More quests that appeal to a particular character type. I.e. sneaks (rogues/rangers/stealth-monks), artillery (Sorcerers, wizards, clerics with a flame strike obssession), holy crusaders...that sort of thing. Sort of like in the first chapter of single player NWN. There's a few quests there you can't do unless you're a cleric, or a paladin, or an arcane caster.

I think I have to second the whole "More Varana" thing...but in the interests of making things a little easier for folks who aren't level 20 casters, a little separation would probably be good.

I'd like to see Morell some day, but that's just because I want to set Haxley loose there and play the wanted fugitive in the place he ran away from, heh. But file that under "S" for "Selfish Haxley desire". ;-)

Craftable diamonds. Again, selfish desire here. ;-)

This isn't "new", specifically, but: reassessing creature exp (i.e. Asabi warriors give way too much for what little danger they pose, while the dwarves underneath the Undead Tower don't seem to grant enough given how hard they are), rebalancing areas that haven't been tweaked since before the item wipe (i.e. road to Solace...mainly because I'd like to actually see Solace at some point :-P).

More (as in more of them) interesting items in general. A non-magical light crossbow that grants the user the rapid reload feat = interesting. A helmet that covers the wearer in shadows, which is represented by +5 to hide (because they're shadowy) but -5 to spot (because the shadows screw up their vision), interesting. Things like that...stuff that's not necessarily powerful, but is something you might hold onto just for the heck of it.

Vorpal galley oars. Why? Because the idea of someone killing a claw in one shot with a galley oar makes me laugh. :-P Yes, that's a joke.

The necropolis. I really, really want to see that.

More creature bane weapons. Give us a reason to carry multiple weapons of various types (the corollary to this, of course, is to have the creature types match their models wherever possible).

Sunblades...because sometimes, you just have to whack the undead with a glowing bastard sword that handles like a short sword. Yes, another joke. :-P

Instead of just exp as the reward for participating in an event, throw out one use items from time to time. Like if a random DM runs an event where the dishes in Butch's sink finally rebel and attack town in the form of a humongous ooze...end reward is a single use grease or acid arrow item. Lame example but, again, gets my point across.
Guns don't kill people. Dwarves do.

More of Varana would be nice, indeed. If there is something I've missed it's the attacks that plagued us a lot before. They really bring a sense of bonding and some really interesting RP as the evil and good of the server have to cooperate.

More use of the areas that aren't used at all right now would also be nice. Raven's Watch for example (It just happens to be an example I know very well) is nothing but a nice place to look at. If there's any way -I- could help with that I most certainly would as I feel kind of responsible for the place now.

Some more honor bound rewards after quests or just to great Rp-ers... Kind of like what Holly said (if I did not get him completely wrong). Although, this is very much dependent on what the player likes. Perhaps he just wants a great item after a long event. I guess individuality kicks in a bit here.

... That's all I can think of for now. Mayhap I'll post a bit more when I've rattled my brain box a little more.

Just as Holly said. More items and such, it doesn't have to be good, they just are there for filling the inventory.
You all know the Runes in Diablo2? Well.. I thought maybe you could have something similiar to those. But those runes should be limited one per person or so.

I think that a new encampment or village should be interesting. maybe Morell would be perfect? New quests and new areas to explore. Oh yeah! One thing that would be cool. Morell isn't the greates place in the world, as i heard. So the EoS of Daris and Dasar now have a place to hang out and so. All the lowlives and scumbags of Daris could end up there... :P

What I really would love is some more quests. Though ones and easy ones. For example:
Get 20 Beetle Bellys for the chef. he needs it for a certain dish tonight.. or something o_O
Or..
Escort this guy from -Insert place here- to -Insert place here- to do -Insert action here-
Or...
the Chef wants you to Capture Raven for tonights dish!
Hmm..
Well.. you get the point O_o

More quests - good idea, more quests are always good.

Better use of areas - good idea; there are tons of areas that don't do much, but there are also a lot of areas that do much and aren't used by players for some reason or another. *not to self - make future puzzles easier*.

More items - good idea, I suppose, the only drawback is that the custom palette will be even more clogged up. If you want new items though (as in visually and er... stat-wise), bug J4 to get orf [strike]my land[/strike] his fat ass and include my Armoury (II). You'll get 140 new models.

More of Varana - yep, that's good too, but that's also up to the players; I recall when we tried pushing more Varana stuff and it turned out into more of Nergal versus whatever. You don't play the right note, you get the wrong sound.

I had made a suggestion to Wyvern awhile back and had included the outline of a story to go with the quest that I suggested. I had thought that a Gong or some other warning device would be useful. Should Varana attack someone could ring the Gong which would send a "shout" message across the server letting everyone one in the game know that the village was being attacked.

It would be funny to see a newbie strike the gong and have everyone rush back to the village loooking for a fight.

I'm sure most have been metioned, but here's what I'd like to see.

More areas utilized. For example, just off the road of Dasar, where the ogres live, there are a few cave entrances that you can't go in. And there is the the caved in entrance that is between the Gnolls and the forest of the damned. I'd like to see these types of things all along the road to Dasar....there are plenty to be explored. Maybe it's time for me to actually do one or two of these areas. I keep talking about doing one....

I'd like to see more items with different properties. A good example is the warhammer. Far as I know there is only 1 warhammer, the Nylar warhammer, that has magical properties.

Quests are always good. Even quests that deal with Varana.

The current trades system fixed. And the ability to make special items by finding certain items. Just like the last trades, ATS, worked.

I'd like to see more storyline/event DMs, especially on the Euro/Australian side.
