I would love to see some kind of travel between Dasar and Daris. Maybe that could breath some life into Dasar. I don't know how many people hang out there, but if it were easier to travel to I know I would be there more often. =)

Some suggestions were brough up in the past about this very thing. Like perhaps making random encounters of bandits, etc along the trail just so it's not 100% safe and a nice gold sink.

That is a very intriguing idea.

A cut-scene of riding in a wagon in much the same way as riding in the Lady o' Blades to Pale Moon could be a really interesting way to break up some of the long-distance travel that abounds in Dasaria. There could even be attacks during these sorts of unusual zonings.

Something else that I would enjoy would be to see more of the environmental monsters battling each other, or other conflicts that emphasize the idea that evil is not monolithic: Badgers and phase spiders might not get along. Goblins and Orcs might occasionally fight each other because of intent and aggresive natures, not because of a faction bug.

I quite enjoy the idea of seeing scripted Varanites attacking places in Dasaria on a regular but random basis, much like they did in the past at Seaside and as they still do in the Shai. I often enjoyed just watching the guardsmen and Varanite scouts and marauders duking it out, wondering if my character would have to fight or run. I know this can eat system resources, but it would be nice to see Varana's siege be more than simply "talked about".

I like the idea of an easier way to get to Dasar... it really cuts down on the RP factor of the city if you have to hike all the way there everytime. While I know the hike can lead to RP, most of the time people just want to get it down and over with, and considering, best case, its a twenty minute hike, that's a lot of time...

I also think random attacks might be interesting. Frankly, Daris doesn't feel like its under siege, it feels more like both sides are sitting staring at each other. At times it felt like stuff was going on, for instance, durring the horsemen saga, random Claw attacks on the village occured, and the Varnites even blockaded the road from Daris to Dasar, and had to be cleaned out. Provided, those were DM events, some just the DMs randomly messing with us... or showing off scary DM characters (Wyv... you know who I'm talking about), but others were obviously more organized... Random attacks would lead to confusion and a more interesting plot overall...

Meldvion came up with a great idea about a wagon once before. I'll try and find the post later when I have more time.
You waited inside the wagon as it travelled and he had the great idea of having random bandit attacks that would disrupt the travel. I thought it was great

Oh and I love that idea about random Varanites attacking Matt! Could be very interesting and perhaps even sometimes the Talon come along!

Agree, agree ... more great ideas.

To me it would make sense that there's a wagon train between Daris and Dasar. Trade and supplies need to be going between the two right?

More ideas for it: Perhaps there could be a quest implemented that would scale to character level / group size. Along the road there's going to be bandits, etc. Perhaps setup a quest where players could act as security instead of riding along. Have the random encounters increase and reward the players once the wagon train arrives safely.

Have another quest setup where a group of Varanites, goblins, orcs, giant flying marmasets highjack the wagons and a group of adventurers needs to rescue captives, supplies, whatever ...

Lots of possibilties here that could be expanded on. Plus it would make traveling to the Dasar area faster! hehe =)

Yeah, that was a good idea. I remember the varanites that used to attack Sea Side. Was neat to watch them fight the guardsmen.

I agree with what was said before. The war between Dasaria and the Veranites does see to be stale right now. Road blocks, raids, etc would all be a welcome addition.

Something I thought of that may or not be workable. Quests involving players gathering information about Varanite plans might be fun. Perhaps have it so rogue type classes could sneak into an encampment and steal battle plans? Players that don't have rogue abilities could raid encampments. Perhaps have a series of battle plans that could be gathered and turned into a captain or a high ranking NPC. This could lead to a varanite raid on the town so the players (group quest) would have to defend the gates against the raiding party that are trying to get their battle plans back and keep Dasarians from gaining knowledge. Maybe make it so it can only be done once so people couldn't keep spawning a raid on the town.

Just some random thoughts ...

I like the idea of the wagon and any quests that might go with it. I've actually PM'd a DM about something like this once awhile back. But you know what would make this even better and more realistic. The chance of the wagon or driver being killed if attacked. No wagon or no driver means....[sings]These boots were made for walking, and that's just what they'll do. If the driver or wagon gets slaughtered, that's just what you'll have to do. *ducks a thrown piece of produce*[/sings]

Oh just to make it that tad bit harder, the driver don' be likin' it when them durn blasted finger twitchers and holier than though priests be castin' on him. So no buffing the driver.

Interesting idea, but I'm not sure if I'd support it. The purpose of the wagon would be a time saver in traveling to Dasar from Daris and vise versa. If the wagon driver keeps getting killed it would be a waste of money and time ...

I'm all in favor of random encounters along the way to add some risk. If you die, you can use the stone to port back, finish them off, and continue on. If the wagon driver is a weakly and gets killed everytime you would probably be better off walking to begin with. hehe =)

Though you have to be careful that low levels, especially new players to Dasaria, don't get frustrated because they killed due to finding themselves suddenly in the middle of a guard and varanite skirmish. Some might say, well that's war for ya. But we should consider the newbies. Don't want to scare anyone off who might just be checking us out for the first time.

More good suggestions. I too would really like to be able to change helm and shield. And even be able to change the colors. =)

Yeah, the raids would need to be watched. I remember when I first started on this server after a couple days of playing I logged in and got blasted by a fireball or something because an event was going on in the middle of town. Was kind of frustrating, but at the same time it was exciting because something was actually going on and it wasn't just another ho-hum day.

The raids that used to happen at sea side were low level and the guards would clear the varanites out pretty quick. so if you were a lowbie and got caught in the middle you could help or run back to the guards and be fairly safe. I'm not sure what others are thinking, but I had similar things in mind. Lower level varanites for the feeling of there actually being a war and controled higher level raids for quests and such.

Oh, and if it's done besure to clean the raiding party's inventory. This could be considered either way, but I know it can lead to a lot of trash laying around on the ground because they drop something no one wants. Like the goblins in the forest. Can't remember the names, but they always drop a club. I for one never loot it because it's low value and just weighs me down. So if anyone spends any amount of time in that area there will be millions of loot bags laying on the ground. I'm guessing this can cause lag, etc, and it also makes it hard to find the new loot bags to check and see if something besides the club dropped. hehe

It is an interesting idea ... If done right it would be fun. Be kind of like playing capture the flag. hehe ... If he wasn't like a first level dirt farmer with 3 hp's it would be ok. I mean, if there risk of him actually getting killed was low. Like if you just sat there like a mo and did nothing, than you deserve to walk! hehe =)

I guess it would depend on the CR of the driver and the CR of the raiders.

If a merchant was wealthy enough to afford a wagon, the oxen or horses for to pull it along with enough space to carry people and goods then he would also be able to afford a few personal guards as well. The merchant doesn't need to be a kick arse fighter or some other character his body guards would protect him. If he dies they don't get paid and its well known that the Redboots don't pay squat.
