I'm a bit confused then. If we are to let the king come back IF THE DMs WISH him/her/it (IT being DM), then what is the purpose of the Kingseekers, why are they here? I'm sorry..but I think a point just got skewered......or twisted..or maybe it's just my mind...I'm confused....again.

Tim...because the story of the Quest for the king is more important than actually finding one. I never expected or even really wanted a King. I just wanted to have a reason to start a faction, and it turned out players had characters who were interested in this idea of looking.
Truth be told, Holly had no choice...as a paladin in the Chaotic Evil realm that the LN realm of Dasaria has become, she would either have to do something about it and become criminal, or leave, forsaking Dasaria as a realm too evil to wish to serve. I had no advance notice of Martial law or anything.
The Quest for the King: It's arch-typal, and it makes sense for my character, Holly. This concept came up a long time ago, back in August, after Holly saw the Council was dead from the inside. She wanted Dasaria to regain it's former glory, it's former strength. Looking for the rightful heir just seemed to make sense as a Lawful way to oppose the corruption of Dasaria's power-center. I am sure that some players think I had some sort of advance notice about all this King talk, but I didn't. Many players are so interested in following preset quest idea's that they don't want to initiate thier own. It took me a while to figure that out.
I never thought there was even a remote possibility for a King. I just took inspiration from the Lore of Dasaria ( Tales section) so that I could start a good faction. Thats all!
Oh, and I am a huge Tolkien fan.

Whether or not there is a government in Daris, I still think people will play their characters however they want to. So, I was kinda asking why we have let this lack of whatever bother us. As it started, there was nothing. Just a barkeep and a small guard.
Can't we just play?
Can't we just play?

So...you mean simplify things?
That, too was an indirect hope of mine as a player: To remove the players from the burdon of having to form the government. An NPC government makes sense, and levels the playing field while diminishing friction and faction wars, and re-establishing the plotline of fighting Varana.
That said, I trust the Dm's and thier creative abilities. Whatever they decide to do is fine with me.

Who's read 'Brave New World'?
ohgod, beforte I start typing I know it's going to be an essay;
but I shall spare you all.
As it goes, in the real world I thik a totalitarian state based around the ethics & morality / philosophy of 'health & care' is best. Untill I can find someone to convince me otherwise. (I'm activley looking, if anyoe wants to have a go ;P)
For Dasaria;
Well. People dont like getting killed randomly, or having stuff nicked. So, we want to stop people doing it.. but we dont want to just murder them in return... Voila, a Justice system is born.. hence government, in an embryonic form. We dont actually have a hierarchy of work - those that do work and those that dont.. even the trades doesnt create it. And it's that (IE: Early social groups discovering the technology to farm / and basic hunter-gathereer outlooks) that leads to soicail hierarchy and government ... Along with some ideas of 'morality' that stem from philosophy.. but we dont have a 'philosopher' class either... other than that which we project onto our charachters as we play them to our own ideals of how we think they would behave... 8X hehehehe...
((NB Spelling mistakes and missing letter 'n's are not my fault.. (apply to all posts in all forums) its the beer in my keyboard, not me ;P ))

AND,
I think it's a testament to how fantastic Dasaria is, and how much effort people put into their charachters that Dasaria has achieved this current state of affairs, believe it or not!! We care about this place so much, and the charachters within it so much, that we want to make it a nice place for them to be in ... We are no longer happy to mix it all up in some pseudo-anarchistic stylee, we care about the people within it... I actually think, (now I think about it) That Dasaria (As a PW run by (that empowers) players, - not the image from PnP days of a ready-made society in the minds eye in Jeh's head) has naturally arrived at a great turning point in it's 'history' - The charachters really do care. They want a framework within which to exist...
Although an awfull lot of the ideas come from the societies the palyers are within themselves, rather than 'Eureka' moments in the charachters own heads as regards morality and ethics.. but then... the players heads are the charachters heads, so thats unavoidable...
hmm.. both those posts make a couple of 'leaps' in their explanations.. If anyone say's 'HEy what!' I'll do it again much longer ;P .. This sort of thing has been a hobby of mine for years, - how society came about, morality ethics & philosophy, evolution, Alife, all sorts... In a way, it's one of the reasons I deeply love dasaria so much, and the wierd thing is it has , or had, nothing to do with roleplay untll these last 10 months or so

It's a nice word Heretic, but sadly enough also an impossible word. Just like pure democraty, pure communism imho is a great form of government. The thing is that neither ever can or will exist. The difference is that eventhough democraty isn't pure, it's still good enough. And communism has proven to be quite eviw when it's not pure....
I agree though, in the core communism is good.
