*IMPORTANT* Server Rules

Post by Melthavion »

This post will be updated as necessary with server and house rules.

+++ House Rules +++

* Bleeding code implemented. This means you START dying at -1 hp. You bleed 1 pt of damage per round until you either a) stabilize, b) are healed, or c) die at -10 (or more) hp. You are automatically stable at 0 hp. After that you have a set chance to stabilize each round you are bleeding, which is modified by your Constitution score (higher Con means better chance to stabilize, lower a worse chance).

* PvP code: Normal death dealt by a mob will give an xp and gold penalty on respawn, based on level and the amount of gold you have. No items are lost. If you are killed by another player, you lose randomly 1-3 *equipped* items (dropped in a corpse bag where you die, on death), but receive no XP or gold penalty.

* Bank: A player vault for items will be implemented as soon as we have the functionality to do so.

* Mark of Death: When you die, you receive a "Mark of Death". This is a reference item only, and should be taken away when you respawn or are raised/resurrected. If you log out (and then back in) while you have this item, you will be dead on enter. If for some reason you still have this item after you respawn or are raised, get rid of it ;)

* OOC chat: This is not something we are strict about, but we do ask and strongly encourage players to keep all public chat as in character as possible. At least prefix out of character public chat with an "ooc:" or "((". We won't penalize or reprimand anyone for not doing so or following this rule, but we believe the game will be more enjoyable if you can really get into your character. Private and party chat out of character is fine if no one in the group objects. ONE EXCEPTION: l337 sPe@|< is a pet peeve of mine. Use it in public chat and you may find yourself suddenly in the midst of an ancient red dragon or a horde of demons, at the least.

* PvP: The server is and always will be full PvP, for the RP opportunities and realism. If you must PK, there had better be a good RP reason behind it. If you have to ask if "this case" is a good reason, it probably isn't. We do understand mistakes happen sometime however, and sparring with mutual concent is fine also. Please use some common sense with this. If you feel your paladin should take violent offense to an evil character killing innocents in the village, fine...as long as he's not some lv 2 newbie while you're a level 12 veteran. This rule will be further clarified later on after we work out some details of some things we're working on.

* Bug reporting and exploits: If you find something that is a bug or exploit, report it to us here in the bug reporting forum asap. We will not make announcements of bugs or exploits we find ourselves, they'll just be fixed. If we find someone repeatedly exploting a bug without reporting it, or sharing bug exploits with other players (not counting the report here), they will be penalized, and repeated offenses may result in character removal or being banned.

* Teleporter system: The portal stones located about the land can be used for instantaneous travel between any two such stones. But a key is required to activate the target stone. Usually the key for a given stone is found at the location of that stone. So once you travel to one on foot, you won't have to ever again. There are some portal stones that have no keys, or the key must be obtained in an alternate fashion (ie: quest).

* Lore items and restricted items: Some items in the game are "lore" items, meaning you may have only one such item at a time. All the portal stone keys and most quest items, along with a few special items, are lore. If you pick up a second one, it will be destroyed. Also, the key boxes at the portal stones will destroy any other item placed inside. So don't put anything in there you don't want to lose.

* Transferring items between characters: While this is not against the rules of the server, the DM's will not be replacing any items lost due to server crash or other complications during the transfer involving a third party. If you wish to transfer items from one character to another, you may either risk losing the items, or wait until a DM can help you do it.

PVP Code of Honor

Post by Jehannum »

PVP Code of Honor

There is nothing wrong with a good battle, especially if it is in the context of the world we play in, however there are a few rules that need to be in place and that everyone should be aware of and adhere to.

Please do not let a pvp situation get to the point where a person is calling on a GM to enforce these rules.

1. If you lose, be a good sport: honor the victor, laugh it off and keep having a good time.

2. If you lose a PVP confrontation. You are obliged to leave the area the fight occured in for a short period of time. As a general rule, there is to be no repeated aggression from either part for the span of 1 real-time hour after a pvp kill. If the victor leaves the area where the fight occured, or the loser refuses to leave the area upon request, or either party is abusive in language, then the mandatory time of seperation and non-aggression is void. The victor can choose whether or not to enforce this seperation as there are certain roleplaying situations where a response-retaliation is in order. If the victor says "move on" then the loser needs to oblige. There is to be no respawn-rushing and repeated attempts to kill either the loser or the victor by either party. As obviously it is very lame for a melee to run from the porter obelisk to the scene of the fight and jump on the victor before they have a chance to rest. If you plan to retailiate or respond after being defeated, the loser needs to make the intentions clear to the victor before the response-retaliation. A simple shout or tell should be adequate, and also provides a good roleplay scenario.

If you win, you are awarded 1-3 random equipped items from the loser. It is your choice whether to loot them or not. The winner is to allow the loser to come to the spot of the death to check for items on the ground, then allow the losing party to leave the area unmolested. It is up to the discretion of the victor as to wether the losing party needs to leave the area. If you lose, assume you need to move on until you hear otherwise. Keep the trash talking to a minimum. If the victor wished to return the lost items to the loser (this is honorable) I would reccomend picking up the items and handing them to the losing party. Note--if you choose to retailiate or respond after being defeated, then you are risking losing up to 3 more items.

The GM's will be unmerciful to someone who loots a pvp kill bag that they did not kill, and this could lead to , level loss, exp loss, gold or item loss, or banning. We are not playing around about this part.

PvP is a fun thing, but it comes with a certain responsibility and the dire need for respect for your combatant. Remember that there is a person behind the keys on the other end who is playing for entertainment, just like you. Dont make this become a problem please.

These rules are a guideline for when things get out of hand and the players are no longer using common sense. Play clean and be respectful and these rules will not even enter the scenario.

Eequeish

Post by Melthavion »

Just to add to Jeh's point above, remember, there is NO xp or gold loss from PVP kills. So don't get too bent out of shape, especially if they are kind enough to return your items and nothing is really lost.

One other thing. Players on our server are starting to form some tight friendships between their characters it seems. While we won't allow pack-hunting of individuals by groups, if you INITIATE something and your victim happens to be close friends with that 14th level fighter in full plate and holding the glowing sword over there, well....

DM Decision in-game is final

Post by Jehannum »

DM In-game judgement calls

A DM's judgement call is the final word in game on any issue. There is to be no arguement once a call has been made. If you disagree with a decision, you may email me at jehannum@dasaria.net to discuss it, but it is no longer an in game issue once a call is made.

Player Housing Abandonment

If you own a house in Dasaria, and have not logged on in 1 real time month, the house will be repossessed by the DM's and disposed of in the manner of choice.

If you own a house and know that you will be away for 1 month or more, just be sure to let me know and it wont be an issue.

Player Diety

If you forgot to define your diety, it can be changed by me through an email request (and reminders ;p)

To convert to one of the existing player run sects, you need to see the player-representatives of the faiths--maybe they will have some tasks for you to "prove your faith" and gain acceptance in the sects, as the diety listing is pretty important for those already. If you define the listing of diety on a character, then we will assume you are a practicing member of the faith, and your actions should back that up. Abuse of that could lead from anything to making enemies out of your fellow sect players to finally banning your CD key if you exploit faction modifications based on your diety. If you need to renounce your faith, you should let me know when you do.

Exploits

Post by Jehannum »

This was posted in another topic and for continuity and simplicity Im moving it here.

Exploit Definition: Taking advantage of a shortcoming of the nwn engine or a loophole/mistake for gains outside of the scope of normal player progression or fantasy context is an exploit.

**SERVER RULES -- ADDITIONS AND UPDATE**

--> We've posted a rule regarding exploits and bugs before. Here it is again in case you missed it.
To clarify and update this rule:
Exploiting a bug or loophole is a BANNABLE offense. Depending on severity, you may lose levels (and the experience lost will be more than you gained via the exploit if I can help it), have your vault folder deleted, or your CD key banned. This will happen WITHOUT warning or notice. Obviously, something happening once or twice and then you reporting it to us and never doing it again is NOT considered an offense. Helping someone else exploit IS an offense. If you see someone exploiting and report it to us, we will not disclose the reporter's identity to anyone (at which point we will investigate the reporter's claim).

Ignorance of these rules is NOT a valid excuse nor defense. (I think it's pretty common sense anyways...)

We are very serious about this and will be cracking down on it harder and harder until it is stopped. Our actions to offenders in the past few days are kind and gentle relative to what will happen from this point on.

I apologize to everyone else for the delay in getting other things done with world development.

Pickpocket Ruleset

Post by Jehannum »

These are server rules and may be different in localities due to In-character government and laws.

Pick-pocket Ruleset

There has been a lot of bad blood on the server lately due to thievery. Not much to do about wiping it out, it is built into the game engine and is here to stay. We can, however, set down rules of conduct for both the thieves and victims.

* If you are the victim of a theft, you are within the standard rights of the pvp code to kill the thief that stole from you. See the PvP Code of Honor if this action is taken, the same rules apply.

* If the victim kills the thief BEFORE he is allowed to check his corpse bag then leave, that victim is in direct violation of the ruleset and subject to disiplinary action.

* If the victim kills the thief, and the thief respawns then immediately continues picking pockets, the thief is in direct violation of the ruleset and subject to disiplinary action.

* If the victim feels he cannot defeat the thief on his/her own, that victim may call on the aid of others. This DOES NOT give anyone the right to hound the thief after the thief has been killed.

We the DM's understand that there are griefers out there, and we are doing our best to keep them at bay. Also remember we have RL issues that demand our time, so we are not able to be on-call 24-7. We DM's have also stated how to deal with griefers if we are not around to take care of it.

In short: When in doubt, contact a DM for advice and use your best judgement

In-Character Laws in relation to Server Rules

Post by Jehannum »

In-Character Laws in relation to Server Rules

Dasaria is a kingdom with in-character laws for its citizens. There is a place for evil in Dasaria, but the life of an outlaw is not necessarily the same as the life of a law abiding dasarian citizen.

Results of breaking in-character laws can result in your character being jailed for varying amounts of time or eventually being Kill-on-sight by guards and other players.

Be aware of the distinction between server rules and in-character laws. Breaking server rules can result in exp loss, gold loss, level loss, warning, or banning from the server. Breaking In-character laws can result in jailing and Outlaw-Status (kos in towns)

Here is a link to the in-character laws of Dasaria.

Character Name Guidelines

Post by Jehannum »

Character Name Guidelines

Dasaria tries to provide a good entertainment experience to all types of players. It is not a part of the server rules that you be "hard core roleplay," though roleplaying is highly encouraged.

Your characters name has an effect on other players' experiences as they interact with you in the game and as such:

A characters name should not interefere with the spirit of the fantasy genre or the context of the dasarian story-line.

Once again: common sense prevails

Prestige Classes

Post by Jehannum »

Prestige Classes

**Subject to Change- Policy In Development**

Melthavion:
ALL the PrCs EXCEPT three (RDD, SD, & HS) can be taken as soon as your character meets all the prerequisites set by Bioware. BUT, only to a maximum of 5th level.

BEYOND 5th level, you will have to seek out and join the factions that can train you further. Not to say that's the ONLY way you'll be able to advance further, but it will be the normal and usual way. And that's all that will be said on that point from us for now.

Of the three PrCs NOT available yet by just meeting default prerequisites, Harper Scout is in, but under control of a Player Faction already. The inclusion of the other two, Shadow Dancer and Red Dragon Deciple, are still under discussion and development.

It's all really pretty straight forward, and the staff feels it's a good compromise between many points of view. Hope this clears things up and if there are more questions ask them here before coming to any conclusions.

Account Sharing

Post by Jehannum »

Account Sharing is a Violation of Server Policy

It shall be against the server rules to share an account and characters with other players.

Dasaria is a story-based persistant world and each character is a part of that story. We consider it a compromise of the integrity of the server to allow this to go on.

Penalties for gross violation include:
Loss of character(s) for either or both parties.
Loss of Levels
or Banning.

Drow

Post by Jehannum »

Dark Elves and Drow will be flagged as enemy of state (KOS In Town)as soon as it comes to the attention of a DM Staff Member that the character exists.

This may happen without warning and suddenly.

Drow characters can earn acceptance from a RP perspective through in-game actions and interaction.

We apologize that we cannot RP each flagging as Enemy of State
