Mom,
Hey it's me your favorite daughter Blue. Just thought I would write and tell you how things are going here in Daris. It's a nice village for the most part. Met all sorts of neat people and a hand-full of weird ones as well.
I know you worried about me getting hurt so I took Uncle Redo's advice and found me some big and stupid people to hang around. They smell funny and I think that lizard I kept, you know the one that died by walking into one of my Little 'Ling Trap Sets™, was smarter then they are. The only downside is they are all half-orcs. It should be OK as long as I can keep them thinking I am still growing. I figure as long as I am not "ripe" they wont try to eat me.
Oh Dad will most likely get a good laugh out of this, but I tried to join the Brute Squad. Didn't happen of course. They said I was to small or some-such thing. That's not the best part. I ran into this Dirk fella, he is a Redboot, the local militia, and he is trying to get me hired. I may one day be the law of this town.
Please don't laugh...
I know honest work is against family tradition, but I think we should give it a try at least once every few generations and don't bring up great great great great Grandpa Fenip. He was an idiot. When an orc clan hired him to clean their pot he should have known something was wrong when it had water, carrots, celery and broth in it still. Never should have climbed in.
Anyway my horc friends joined the brute squad today. It was rather...
Well they are horcs. Their interview process included a lot of beating on each other and drinking. God they are stupid, but I wouldn't ask for better people to adventure with. They take a beating like nothing I've ever seen.
Well I need to go, Borag seems to have gotten the finger of her armored glove stuck in her nose again.
Love you and hope to write again soon,
Blue
P.S Tell Dad I owe him 20gp. He was right. Just because a Wizard is intelligent doesn't make him smart.

Honored Mother,
I am writing to you finally, after these many months away, to share with you what has occurred in my life. I am never certain how my letters will be received, but I feel it is my duty to keep you informed.
I am proud to write that I have been made a Guardsman in the Redboot Brigade, charged with defending the village of Daris. I know it is not what you would want for the first scion of the Lyonsbanes. You will probably deem it too common, too filled with rabble, since they allow members of different races and segments of society. But I feel that I can aid the populace in this role since their need is so great, and my compatriots seem so far to be honorable and most capable. I realize that you have been disappointed in me since I heeded the call to Girru's service, and I'm sure you thought I couldn't fall any lower in your eyes. But I suppose I have always been one to surprise you, from the time as a small boy when I refused to succumb to the illness from which the clerics claimed I would never recover.
I hope that you will pass my words of greeting and affection to my sisters and brothers. I particularly hope that little Bettina is not getting into too much trouble. But if you choose not to send my love, I am certain they will still know I think about them and care for them.
Please also give my respects to my father. Unless things have drastically changed these last months, I know that he cannot respond, but I have faith that he can hear and comprehend. Someday I hope to shake his hand again, and have him whole and strong once more. Though I have chosen a different path that the one that you both had selected for me, I still honor you both. If there is justice upon this earth, the Varanites will pay for the grievous injuries they inflicted upon Father's body.
Should you or the family care to respond to this letter, you can address it to me at the Redboot barracks in Dasar. I am certain they can hold any messages and get them to me promptly.
In Girru's name, your dutiful son,
Dirk Lyonsbane

Hakiseth, with a slight impish grin formed on his face, passed the letter to the messenger and tipped the man a coin for his troubles. He then spun around on his heels, his hands in his pockets, and skipped once or twice down the road towards the Salted Rim, whistling one hell of a catchy tune.
Dear wench,
I'm writting this letter in attempt to laugh in your face to show how well I succeeded in life in contrary of what you told me every single day as I grew up.
I now live on the streets, beg for coin, and drink my life away, and I'm loving it. Basically disposing of any morallity you've ever tried to press upon me during my early years.
Did I mention i'm now an active Ji-Lyn cult member? I've already stolen five innocent children as it is! I've also decided to never marry, and become a hermit deep within the forest of the damned aswell.
And please enform my drunkard of a father aswell on how well i'm doing, he of all people should be proud of what I've achieved.
Sincerely,
Your beloved son;
Dante

//I wanted to add more to it, you know, get the guy in as much trouble as possible, hehehehe.
